Becky McDonald (Nee Granger) was a character in Coronation Street was first appeared as an isolated appearance in Ep 6100 - 24 Aug 2005, then as a regular character from Ep 6221 - 5 Feb 2006 to Ep 7785/7786 - 23 Jan 2012. She is the older half sister of Kylie Platt and Becky dated Steve McDonald. She was played by Katherine Kelly in her 2006 to 2012 stint, but by Amanda Tyrrell in her first appearance in August 2005.

Backstory[]
Rebecca Granger was born in 1980 to Miss Granger after a relationship she had with a man. The family lived on The Ecclestone Estate. Becky's mum had a daughter Kylie Turner with Brian Turner in 1987. As a young adult, Becky drifted away from the rough estate and put it behind her, never to live on the estate again. Becky became friends with Kelly Crabtree.
2006-2012[]
In February 2006, Becky framed Kelly Crabtree for a knicker theft at Underworld and left the area for several months. Becky returned later in the year and befriended Roy and Hayley Cropper. Becky however begun threatening customers and even stealing money from the till to help out her drug addicted ex-boyfriend Slug. Although Roy and Hayley found out they forgave Becky and still treated her like a daughter, as she found it difficult to escape from her rough past. She continued helping at Roy's Rolls and became a valued member of staff.
Becky began dating builder Jason Grimshaw but he broke off with her when he hoped to reconcile with his estranged wife Sarah, who was living in Milan. Becky hit the booze and went on a rampage where she smashed up some cars and threatened heckling young men. She worked at the Rovers and was attracted to Steve McDonald, even though he was already in a relationship with Michelle Connor. But Steve didn't turn down her advances and they had an affair, and he lied for her when court when corrupt officer DC Hooch tried to bring her down. Although she got off the hook, the pair were blackmailed for a short while by nosy acid tongued pensioner Blanche Hunt and had to pay her off with free drinks.
As Steve was too cowardly to dump Michelle Becky reconciled with Jason and he got engaged to her. But Becky and Steve ended up getting together, upsetting both Jason and Michelle. Steve's mother Liz also didn't approve Becky due to her shady past and not wanting her around Amy. But Becky bonded with Amy and saw her as a daughter figure, and they got along well. Not long after getting with Steve the pair planned to marry already and were due to wed in March 2009, but it got called off due to Becky getting drunk and climbing onto the roof of Underworld.
Becky and Steve finally married in August 2009, but their day was ruined when she was arrested at the pub for drugs possession. It turned out that DC Hooch had hired Slug to plant the drugs, as a scheme on Hooch's part to finally get revenge on Becky. But Steve and his friend Lloyd Mullaney managed to threaten Slug to help them out, which led to Slug to inform DC Hooch that he would testify against him if he didn't drop the charges against Becky. DC Hooch initially scoffed but out of worry decided to comply, allowing Becky off the hook.
After 2012[]
Becky began working at successful hotels in Barbados and later got engaged to her partner Danny. Her sister Kylie, her husband David and Max (and then later Lily) would visit Becky on numerous occasions.
In January 2014 after Hayley Cropper passed away Becky didn't travel to the UK to attend the funeral. The reason for this wasn't given on-screen.
In July 2014 Kylie, David and the kids went to visit her but had to cut the holiday short due to Max being out of control and hyperactive. Once back home Max was diagnosed with ADHD.
After Kylie went missing in December 2014 David phoned Becky to find out if she had heard from her, in which she said she didn't.
In July 2016 Kylie planned to move to Barbados with David and the kids and had spoken to Becky over the phone about it. However it was tragically cut short as Kylie was stabbed in an altercation when she tried to defend her friend Gemma outside the Kebab shop from a man named Clayton, the latter whom stabbed Kylie and ran off. Kylie later passed away in the arms of David. Becky was informed and she sent flowers. She is unable to attend the funeral due to ear infection, meaning she won't be allowed to fly.
David, Lily and Max went to visit Becky in 2018.
