Darren Dobbs is the father of Tyrone Dobbs. In March 1999 he turned up to see Tyrone. Darren was played by James McMartin. He returned in September 2018 played by Stephen Donald, and now looks like he should be Tyrone's older brother rather than his father.

Backstory[]
Darren was presumably born in the 1950s. She later married Jackie Dobbs. In 1982 she turned up with a newborn baby at their house. Darren didn't know where she got him from as she hadn't displayed signs of pregnancy, so likely stole the child from somewhere. They kept the child in order to use him child benefit, and named the boy Tyrone and raised him as their own son, without him knowing the truth about his parentage. Jackie would end up in prison numerous times for a string of offences. Despite being rough looking Darren was far more toned down and friendlier than his wife.
Jackie did another stint in prison in 1998, in which she met Deirdre Rachid. Once released from prison Jackie took Tyrone and moved to Coronation Street to stay with Deirdre and make the street her new home with Tyrone.
1999[]
Despite only spending four months on Coronation Street, Jackie had developed a reputation as a troublemaker and clashed with some of the residents. In 1999 she stowed away in Curly Watts home to help pay the rent while he was away, but refused to leave the property when he returned back and attempted to blackmail him to pay her off to leave. In March 1999 Darren got wind of his wife's antics and turned up on Coronation Street to collect her and Tyrone to take them back to Liverpool. The residences - especially Curly - feared that Darren would be ruthless, but he proved to be far nicer than Jackie and apologised to Curly for her beahaviour. He bundled Jackie and Tyrone into his car and departed the street with them and they returned home.
But the union didn't last long as Jackie ended up back inside for punching Darren's ex-girlfriend. Tyrone returned to Weatherfield and moved in with Jack and Vera Duckworth, who would become his surrogate parents and were far better to Tyrone than the Dobbs.
Between 1998 to 2018[]
Much of Darren's activity during this twenty year period is unknown, as Tyrone barely mentioned his father and only contacted Jackie if needs be. Following Jackie's release from prison she reconciled with Darren again, although around the 2000s they split up again. She got into debt with his old friend Scary Brian and fled to Spain. She called on Tyrone to bail her out of a Spanish jail when arrested for theft in 2007, without mention of Darren.
Darren wasn't back for Tyrone's wedding to Molly Compton in January 2009, although Jackie turned up at the reception and stole the couples' wedding present to Paris. It is unknown if Jackie had further contact with Darren following her permanent departure from the street in March 2010.
At some point Darren got a hair transplant to get rid of his bald spot on his head and also dyed his hair to make himself look younger. Later in the 2010s he began to grow a stubble.
2018[]
Darren as he appears in 2018. Not bad looking for a man who should at least be in his 60s.
Following Jackie's death in 2018 Darren returned in September that year for her will reading. There he came across Tyrone for the first time in twenty years. Tyrone surprisingly recognised his dad despite looking younger and far different. Jackie left Darren a cheap engagement ring that she got off a market stall many years before. After the will reading was over Darren left without speaking to Tyrone.
Later that day Darren was called to the Dobbs residence by Tyrone's partner Fiz Stape. It turned out that Jackie had left a tape with a confession recorded, but it ended up being destroyed before they heard it. They believed Darren knew what the contents held and probed him for the information. He finally gave in and dropped a huge bombshell to Tyrone, that he wasn't his real father, and informed him how Jackie just turned up one day with a baby Tyrone in her arms. Darren further informed Tyrone that he even doubted that Jackie was even his real mother. Darren left Coronation Street after this, and hasn't had any contact with Tyrone since.

- Darren's second actor Stephen Donald was born in 1966. If Darren is born around this date as well, that would have made him 16 when he "became" a dad to Tyrone Dobbs in 1982. This would also make him 12 years younger than Jackie, which seems unlikely.
