Dylan Wilson is the son of Violet Wilson and Sean Tully. In spring 2007, Sean agreed to be a donor for Violet Wilson, so she could have a baby. Sean often did not see his son grow up. Since 2011, Dylan has been played by Liam McCheyne whose twin brother Connor McCheyne played him as well in 2011 and 2012.

Biography[]

2008-2012[]

Violet gave birth to Dylan on the 22nd February 2008. As Sean was only a donor she didn't want him to have contact with the child, and left Weatherfield with her partner Jamie Baldwin, who she intended to raise Dylan as his own son. Sean was initially devastated about Dylan taken away - for about five minutes - before resuming normal life.

Two years later Sean suddenly remembered that he had a son and wanted to contact Violet to see Dylan. His boss Liz McDonald helped him contact Violet through social media.

Sean went to visit Dylan during the Easter period in 2011, which at that point Dylan was three years old. Sean and his ex-boyfriend Marcus Dent took Dylan out for the day while Violet dealt with her relationship problems with Jamie. When the two men returned to drop Dylan off, they witnessed Jamie walking out on Violet and departing. Sean offered to look after Dylan while Violet sorted herself out, but Violet turned him down which hurt Sean. Sean later returned to Weatherfield, and was followed by Marcus thereafter.

After Violet was involved in a car accident a couple of months later, a reconciled Sean and Marcus took care of him. He returned home to Violet in September 2011.

A now single Sean looked after Dylan during the Christmas period in 2012, before returning him home to Violet.

After 2012[]

Sean continued to have contact with Dylan, and visited him off-screen on several occasions. Sean intended to introduce his boyfriend Billy Mayhew to Dylan in 2016, but this didn't happen due to Billy breaking off with him. In 2018, Sean went to see Dylan and Violet again.

2020-[]

A twelve-year old Dylan came to stay with his father Sean in October 2020. He ran away and was later found in the ginnel by Todd Grimshaw, and Dylan revealed that his mother Violet and her boyfriend Anton argue a lot and he fears that they will split up. Todd assures Dylan that his dad still loves him. Sean is grateful for Todd's help when he manages to catch up with them.

Sean took Dylan to play football at his old home the Red Rec, although Sean was eventually tired out after the game. Dylan later revealed that he was sad because his girlfriend recently split up with him, and Sean consoled his son.

Dylan became friends with Liam Connor Jr. but when Liam was being bullied by Dylan's other friend Mason Radcliffe, Dylan found it hard to defend Liam so turned on Liam himself, as he knew Mason was a but of a nutter.

Background information[]

An infant Dylan was played by Charlie Corry and Grace Robinson in 2008, in which the character was uncredited.

Three years later, Dylan was reintroduced in April 2008 as part of a Easter Sunday special episode, in which twins Connor and Liam McCheyne took over the part. The character was moved back to the street itself two months later on a temporarily basis which saw his dad Sean and Sean's boyfriend Marcus look after Dylan. Dylan departed in September that year after three months. Dylan made a further five appearances in 2012, first in April 2012 and then in December 2012. This would mark Connor McCheyne's final contribution to the character, and Dylan wouldn't be seen for eight years, although would be frequently mentioned by Sean in dialogue.

Dylan was originally meant to return at some point in 2019, although this didn't go ahead for reasons unknown. He was eventually reintroduced in October 2020, with Liam McCheyne solely remaining in the role. Although it was claimed Dylan would be a permanent character, he would depart in January 2021, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic likely a contributing factor to his exit. He eventually returned over a year later in July 2022 on a more permanent basis.
