Story[]
An old face is back in town. Dennis Tanner. Poor old Ken Barlow's crown as the last remaining original character has been wrenched away, as he has to share this with Dennis, at least for the next 3 years. Dennis looks at No 11, and sees Rita Sullivan for the first time in over 40 years. She recognises him from her past, and asks if she knows him, but he runs off into the night.

- This episode was the start of when Ken Barlow was no longer the only remaining character who had appeared in the very first episode, Episode 1 (9 Dec 1960). In Ep 2423 - 20 Jun 1984, Linda Cheveski departed after her brief return, thus meaning that from Ep 2424 - 25 Jun 1984 to Ep 7598 - 9 May 2011, Ken remained the only character left from the first episode in 1960. Although Ken was to regain the title as sole original character after Ep 8437 - 30 Jul 2014 when Dennis left Weatherfield for the last time.
