George Shuttleworth is the son of the late undertaker Archie Shuttleworth, portrayed by Tony Maudsley, who made his Coronation Street debut in September 2020, Tony was due to start filming his first scenes in April 2020 but was delayed due to Covid-19.
George Shuttleworth follows in the footsteps of His Dad Archie, as He is also an undertaker.
George Shuttleworth was born in about 1970, the son of Archie Shuttleworth and Mrs Shuttleworth.
We first hear Mary Taylor complaining about George Shuttleworth, after he was rude to her in Prestons Petals, Mary did the flowers for a funeral George was conducting after his usual florist let him down, although Mary was annoyed as he didn’t seem grateful.
George Shuttleworth made his first appearance on the 16th September 2020, in the second part of the episode. We first see him in the Rovers Return apologising to Mary, and talking about his late dad Archie Shuttleworth. In January 2021, Gail Rodwell put some of her family history on a website, and found that her and George Shuttleworth share 2 great, great grandparents.
Behind the Scenes
- Tony Maudsley was originally going to start filming in April 2020, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic which halted production of the show. He began filming for the programme in July 2020, which then aired on 16th September 2020.
- Maudsley originally appeared on the show in the early 1990s as an extra, and for one episode in 1995 as Bailey.
