James and Ted entered into a civil partnership in 2006. Their relationship was a happy one, but came to a tragic end in early 2008 when James passed away. When Ted reunited with his old flame Audrey Roberts that same year, he mentioned James' death to her.
Ted wouldn't find love again until the late 2010s, in which he met another man named Andrew.
