Corrie 1960-1974[]
In 1960, 15 year old Jennifer won the role of 11 year old Lucille Hewitt in Coronation Street, however she played Christine Farrar in Episode 1 in a voice only role where Elsie Tanner shouted out to her and her mates. Jennifer then debuted in the long running role of wild child Lucille Hewitt in Episode 4.
Jennifer battled alcoholism during her time in Coronation Street. She took maternity leave in 1969/1970. In 1974, producer Susi Hush sacked Jennifer due to her alcohol problems, so the character of Lucille never got a proper exit, and was soon said to have gone to visit family in Ireland, and never returned to Weatherfield.
