identical building in the terraced side of Coronation Street. When the show began in 1960 No 3 was the home of the Barlows. Ken Barlow was born there in 1939, and Ken often comments on how, in his whole long life, he has moved just 1 door down as he lives at No 1, next door to his birthplace.

Emily Bishop lived permanently at the residence since 1972, in which she moved there with her husband Ernie Bishop (until his death in 1978). Another later owner was Norris Cole, who had lived there as a lodger since 2000, but Emily signed the house over to him in 2013 (on a condition she lived rent free). Norris found himself living alone at the house at the beginning of 2016 after Emily departed for Peru to see her nephew Spider Nugent. However later that year he would gain two lodgers, first Sean Tully who was soon joined by Brian Packham. In 2019, the house was sold to Ed Bailey and his family.

Neighbouring houses are Number 1 Coronation Street and Number 5 Coronation Street.

Pre 1960[]

1960-[]

In December 1960, Ken bought home Susan Cunningham, his girlfriend from university. They split in early 1961 and she sent him a letter to say she was pregnant but it got wedged under the skirting board, so Ken never knew about the letter. In September 1961, Ida was killed when she was run over by a bus. Frank left No 3 in May 1964 to move to Cheshire.

From then to 1968, No 3 remained empty. Dickie Fleming bought the house in 1968. Dickie fled Weatherfield in 1970.

Emily Bishop and her new husband Ernie moved into No 3 in 1972 after buying the place.

In October 1999, Emily went on a holiday to Asia and told Spider not to abuse her trust and stay there while she is away. Spider and Toyah Battersby did go against Emily and they almost burnt the house down.

Emily took on Norris Cole was a lodger in 2000, and he acted as the successor to Percy Sugden. In August 2010, Norris found a letter wedged under the skirting board which was from 1961 and was from Susan Cunningham to Ken Barlow, saying she was pregnant. Ken was informed and shocked to find out.

In 2013 Emily sold the house to Norris, and Emily was relieved to no longer be a house owner. She remained at the house with Norris until leaving Coronation Street in January 2016, due to wanting to volunteer in Peru. Norris felt lonely being at the house on his own, and later in the year took on Sean Tully and Brian Packham as lodgers.

Norris moved out of the property in 2018, and allowed Mary Taylor's son and his family to stay there. They put out Sean when he erased a video recording on their son. They then moved out eventually. In 2019 Norris returned to the street and sold the house to the Bailey family when he decided to settle in Edinburgh with Emily and her niece Freda Burgess, the latter who Norris got engaged to.
