Peter Baldwin (1933-2015) was an English actor who played Derek Wilton in Coronation Street, first sporadically from 1976 to 1985 then full time from 1987 to 1997.

Inbetween 1976 and 1988, Peter played Derek Wilton on and off, and became a regular cast member once his character married Mavis. Derek was pompous and eccentric. Derek and Mavis were 2 of the shows most popular characters but were involved in some quite inane storylines. In early 1997, Brian Park took over as the shows producer and wanted to revamp the 36 year old soap opera. Following Thelma Barlow's decision to quit the role of Mavis, Derek was axed and killed off by Park, who believed the character wouldn't work without Mavis.
After Coronation Street[]
Peter decided to run a toy shop in Covent Garden in London.
Peter died on the 21st October 2015 aged 82.
